In early 2019, I launched the From Where to Here project: a participatory community art project that seeks to create a space to honor the journeys taken, as individuals and as families, to reach the Bay Area. It takes the form of multi-faceted art events that encourage collective creativity and conversation through art-making, writing, music and collaboration.
This first painting,
Dreaming of Land in Two Times, became the backbone of the interactive community work.
This project is ongoing, and was funded in 2019 by both a grant from the City of San Leandro and The Red Poppy Art House in San Francisco. The events and exhibitions in 2019 included Station SL, the Red Poppy Art House, and the Community Impact Lab.
